Expressive typography is a type that unique the graphic form that amplifies meaning. The aim of this activity is to visually manipulate a letterform to communicate different emotions/feelings.
INTRODUCTION
First, our tutors gave us a brief about what exactly the activity was all about, they showed us a picture representing the word “balance” in which the word itself was very much self introductory.

WARM-UP ACTIVITY
We all were divided into groups, I was accompanied by Adrisha, Nivarthi and Leiching but Adrisha and Leiching were not present so I continued with Adrisha along. We got two words: Magnificent and ecstatic. So me and Nivarthi chose the words of our choice, she chose ecstatic and I chose magnificent. We did have good communication between us which help both of us, Here is what I made:

MAIN ACTIVITY
For the main activity we were told to choose a short poem, lines or a quote, we had to showcase and express that in typography. I chose the line “No beauty shines brighter than that of a good and grateful heart “. I first expressed this quote through a handmade expression but wasn’t really satisfied so I made one more digitally, it was something new for me because honestly, I have never been into digital stuff but I just loved the outcome. Here is what I made:
NO BEAUTY SHINES BRIGHTER THAN THAT OF A GOOD & GRATEFUL HEART.
MEANING: HEART
REFLECTION
I really liked today’s activity, we had a good peer discussion which I felt was very important for almost all of us because as sir and mam say “there is always a scope of improvement”, we got a chance to know what all we can change or add in our work. I wasn’t really confident about the handmade expression I made but after the peer discussion, I had that sense of “confidence” for that, all thanks to my peers who appreciated that. overall, it was a new experience for me I haven’t really tried such out of the box things before, I have always been very rigid about the things I try so eventually such activities gives me a lot of scope to get out of my work “cocoon”
ACHIEVEMENTS
• Good communication
• Good discussion
• Proper time management
STRUGGLE
I really did not face any struggle as such but was a little confused that how exactly should I choose the way of expressing my word through typography
LEARNING MANTRA
“ try and fail, but never fail to try”
